Meggie Meg Meg!

Ohhhh, Meg is SOOOO cute!!!!!

She is um... how should I say this... SPOILED! And we weren't the ones who spoiled her!! LOL I really have no idea why anyone would have given up this dog!!! She's obviously been fed only table scraps as no matter what kind of dog food we give her she won't touch it. I've been mixing dog food w/ people food hoping to wean her onto her own food lol. But honestly, she is still SO skinny that if she eats ANYTHING we are excited. She was (and still is) dangerously thin when we got her, but she's starting to gain a little, bit by bit. She loves chicken and scrambled eggs - and left over Chinese haha!

And the best thing!?!?! She PEES OUTSIDE!!!!!! HAHA That might not seem like much, but Athena never got the hang of the outside business. She isn't totally trained on doing her "other" business outside, but since she isn't eating, she isn't doing much of that anyway. We do need to work with her about letting us know she needs to go out, but she will instantly pee when you take her out - its awesome lol!!!

She gets along great with the kids, too - well, when they aren't forgetting she isn't Athena and try to play a little too rough.

We can tell that Meg is feeling much better, because she's running around now, and jumping on the couch and starting to bark at the cat lol. I bought her a rawhide bone today and it was hilarious to watch her play with it.

She's a keeper, for sure!

There's a new dog in town!!

Well, Athena left us yesterday, and we got a new dog today. :-) (And just so you all know, we heard from Athena's new family right after she was delivered and they were VERY excited to finally have her, and loved her already.) We had to drive to Louisville to get the dog, but she's worth it. She's a Basset Hound, and she was adopted from the Humane Society. She's VERY skinny, but she just was spayed yesterday, and all of December has been filled with Vet visits, shots, being spayed, and moving from place to place. So, you can't really blame her for not wanting to eat, right??

As soon as we brought her in the door she found part of a biscuit from this morning's breakfast and ate it right up, even though she wouldn't touch the puppy food, so we fixed her some toast lol. She did eat some. Her little tummy is still sore, and the lady who did the adoption missed that she'd just been fixed yesterday, so we didn't know. Fortunately, we were already being very cautious with her!! Syd said, she must have JUST had surgery because she has stitches on her belly. So I looked through the paperwork, and yup yup, she was spayed on 12/5. So anyway, she's doing VERY well for being one day post-op, in my opinion lol!!! She did a little warning growl twice at Trey when he got in her face after rolling around her, but that's acceptable, I'd be growling after surgery lol.

But she's in bed with Charles and Trey right now, and I'm hoping there will be room for me when I go in there in a little bit!! HAHA (Bigger pics coming soon)

Ohhh - her name is "MEG".

New Dog?????

Well, we've been thinking for a long time about getting a smaller dog for the kids to enjoy. They LOVE Athena, but she's just a bit too much for them. Also, an opportunity came up this weekend that might give Athena a new home with lots of other dogs to play with in the country - which she would love. (Also, the kids would still be able to see her sometimes...)

UPDATE: YAY!!! Athena's potential new home has panned out! He is excited to get her and can't wait! He wants her to be an inside dog, too, so that's awesome since that's what she's used to.

So.............. I've been searching online for a smaller dog and we put in an application to adopt this sweet little thing:

She's a Sheltie and weighs about 23 pounds. Best part: she's already HOUSEBROKEN and walks great on a leash. She's 3.5 years old, and great with kids.

Hopefully the application process doesn't take too long, because we broke the news to the kids tonight about the possible plans and it wasn't really very pretty. But - once they found out we weren't trying to tell them we weren't going to HAVE a dog, they were much happier. Also, knowing Athena could be going to this certain person's house helped alot, too. We'll see!!!

Clean Happy Dog

Athena had her first trip to the groomer today. We normally had been washing her ourselves, but as she's gotten SOO big and considering she has fleas we wanted her to get a flea dip, and let someone else wash her, haha! She got her bath, flea dip, ears washed, "paw pads and potty parts" cleaned (lol yeah, that's what they called it on the phone), nails clipped, and anal glands expelled (yummy... gag). She is all happy now haha! They even sent her home with a pretty pink bandanna. :-)

A Real Shocker!

Poor, poor Athena...

She was chewing (unbeknownst to us at the time) on an extension cord and chomped through it. Much to her surprise she got the "shock" of a lifetime. She went yelping through the room looking at us like, "WHY DID YOU LET THAT HAPPEN????? What did YOU do to ME?" LOL I guess its sad, so maybe I shouldn't laugh, but it was quite humorous. :-)

Pics, pics, and more pics...

We went a little photo-crazy tonight... Sydney wanted to share these with you all.
These are "Emotional Sydney"

I love these pictures of Ally playing outside on the swingset with Athena chillin'.

This was at dinner tonight - Sydney rocking on, and Ally eating (which is a huge thing in and of itself...) We had Penne Alfredo w/ mushrooms and Blueberry Muffins, it was yummy.

Doggie update

Well, Athena is now fully vaccinated and is being treated for fleas (which she does NOT have) and the *insert vomit noises* worms. And all for $55!!! You can't beat that! There is a great low-cost Spay and Neuter clinic here in Indy called FACE that takes forever to get in and out of because its always so busy, but its great prices.

GROSS GROSS GROSS GROSS GROSS GROSS

I am soooooooo freaking out right now. Ok, 6wks ago, our dog had to get stitches in her foot and while at the vet's office, they said she had a tapeworm, and gave me the pills to treat it. So I did and it was uneventful. THEN TODAY - I cleaned up a mess she made this morning and it looked like she had pooped out a bunch of rice... Ok, so she has worms, it happens. I gave her a treatment of the otc dewormer I had on hand and looked online. Obviously she still has this tapeworm and I am FREAKING OUT! I'm paranoid that I'm going to get a tapeworm or that my kids are! Calm down, Keppy... lol So I read online that its really VERY rare for ppl to get tapeworms, and they can only get them by ingesting a contaminated flea. The dog doesn't HAVE fleas! If she did Charles and I would be eaten alive as she are both flea magnets - if there is one near us, they find us and bite our ankles. I have never seen a flea on my dog.

I have the creepy-crawlies now and I am absolutely freaking out. I guess I wasn't so uptight the first time because I'd never actually SEEN the worm "segments" but now I have and I can't quit itching and being paranoid!!!!!!

UGH UGH UGH UGH

Round Dishcloth

I finished my Round Dishcloth today - even though it's finished a little oddly. As I was gathering the center together and sewing the seam I was just going and going and happily seaming when I finished and realized that I hadn't bound off lol. It turned out ok though.

I also cast on something new that I haven't really tried yet. Its a pattern for a bedspread, but I am not even conceiving of the idea of really making something that big. I'm just testing the "lace" pattern using sz0 short dpns and blue crochet thread. I didn't exactly "block" this but I did iron it - does that count? Its cotton, so I don't really know how well that blocks anyway, but I know it irons well. This picture has no frame of reference to show how big it is, but its about 3in across and 2in tall, I'd guess.

Yarn, glorious yarn Pt. 2

Ok, after the certain X-Box maniac went to bed, I searched and searched the house for all of our rechargeable batteries and found enough for BOTH remotes, the controller, my camera, and TWO extras! Yes, I am amazing, this I know.

So, I tried to play catch up with one post. The first are "PurpleRain" (that's what I'm naming my hat, even though technically he didn't go by the symbol when he wrote Purple Rain, but I'm sure nobody cares about that little detail lol.) The next is some yarn I got on clearance - Lion Brand boucle for $.50 not bad, huh? Then are pics of yarn I've gotten from sweaters I've unravelled so far. The two big black balls in the back (snicker snicker) are the yarn that I had balled for me at Mass Ave Knits. The row of pinks and purples is from a striped chenille sweater that's less than 1/2 undone. And the green and blue is from a 100% wool sweater I got for $2 at Goodwill. I love it, but I cut a little bit on the sides and so the strands I'm pulling off are short and it's pissing me off just a little. There is a little sock yarn in there from Mass Ave Knits, too for $3.

The last two are the "loverly" Athena, and how the TV looks 90% of the time lol. (BST73 ftw - if you understand that then <3, /em loves you. rofl!)

Forwarded Pic

My mom sent me this pic of the kids at her house (it's a camera phone pic, so its fuzzy). The girls have their hats on and they are showing off Athena. Trey was so excited about seeing this picture that I had to put it up. As Trey-Trey would say, it's a picture of "A-ya, Sin, [insert sound of panting like a dog], [insert motion of patting one's self on chest]". (For those of you who don't know, Trey has a speech delay. He is three and has about a 15 word vocabulary - and that's on a very good day. He has no cognitive delays and no hearing loss. He's been in speech therapy for a year but has aged out of the program, so will be starting a preschool program geared for speech acquisition sometime in the spring.)

Fun Fur Scarf Pics (and crocheted hat)

Sydney was a willing model for the scarf hamming it up a little with Athena.
(LMAO Please disregard the walls... my kids like to draw and smear things on them.)

Pics of my family

Might as well share pics of my kiddos who are reaping the benefits of all this frantic "yarning" as they call it... (First two are Sydney, next two are Ally, next two are Trey, and the last few are me and Charles, although I wear contacts now). The one of Charles is from when we were in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in December.

Finally!!!

This is Trey's sock. This particular one is the 1st one I made and its actually wrong, but you can't see it in the picture. I accidentally made the foot of the sock 20rows instead of 16rows so this sock is about an inch longer than the other one, but he doesn't care. And the 2nd pic is my Cascade Fixation sock (and my very first sock on dpns). It is MUCH smaller than I'd hoped. I made it for Syd, but while making it realized that it would never fit, so thought I'd make it for Ally... well, it barely fits her either but she plays with it anyway. Notice how the cuff is so big? I'm trying to solve that problem on the current sock I'm knitting but we'll see how that goes. (Yup, you guess it, only one made so far...)

SockSock

Ally's mitten. (No, I haven't knitted the 2nd one yet - I can't find my sz8 needles ANYWHERE...) I just love this cute little baby bootie. (It also uses the sz8 needles that I can't find, so there is only 1 made so far)... (I suffer from SSS severely lol).

MittenBootie

The next two are of Syd's sweater. It's a WIP, but I have had to put it down for a few weeks because I've screwed up part of it and frogging an inch or so isn't appealing to me right now so I'm trying to think of a way to hide the error without frogging. Unfortunately each time I grab the sweater I stress out about it so it's on hold. The stitch is called something like "stacked blocks" but its hard to see in the photos.

SweaterSweater

This is Ally's fuzzy hat, she adores this hat, its just so "her"! :-)
And this is the hat I crocheted last night, cute huh?? Maybe not as cute as my AC/DC hat I got for $5 at Wal-Mart, but still very cute. :-) It's kind of hard to really see his hat in the picture because of all the open areas.

HatHat

Last but not least and totally OT, but this is Athena, our Rottweiler, with my super cute AC/DC hat (and somehow my toe...) LOL
