Oy Vey...

Does the drama in my life ever stop? lol
Ally woke up with a headache on Friday morning, and then slept most of the day. She was fine after that, and then had a fever Friday night. She woke up on Saturday morning with a rash but no fever and she didn't act sick. She had complained of a sore throat once on Friday, but didn't seem bothered by it afterwards. So my first thought was Scarlatina, which I had like 3x as a kid. (Its basically scarlet fever, some people say its a mild version some say its no different - scarlet fever is basically nothing more than strep throat with a rash, it rarely causes complications anymore due to antibiotics.) Anyway, her rash got worse today, its on her whole torso, worse in her groin area (looks like she has diaper rash), her neck, chin, cheek, and eye. She says it doesn't itch, and she doesn't act sick in the least... So tomorrow if its worse we are planning on at least calling the pediatrician to see if she needs to be seen... I am doubting the scarlatina now, though, because she isn't "sick". I remember when I had it those times and I was MISERABLE!

Anyway, fast forward to tonight - Sydney complains about her tooth... omg - her tooth is so screwed up! I called my mom to leave a message for the dentist for an emergency appointment. I don't know if she has an abscess or what, but her gum is beet red and terribly swollen and looks bruised and is partially split and bleeding... Her filling is missing from that tooth, too... I am guessing he will pull it. She says it hurts but its not terrible. She has the WORST TEETH like ever........ they are so horrible, poor thing!! (She had 6 caps and 2 fillings when she was 13mos old - and has had like 4 fillings since then, too. I blame antibiotics as an infant - and had a dentist tell me it was likely.)

So............ I have to take Syd to the dentist 2hrs away and try to get Ally in to be seen at the pediatrician's office, too, if her rash isn't better. Lovely - that shouldn't be too hard, huh?????? LOL!!!!

Now a few pics:
The family pic below was taken in October and the other is of Ally's rash. (The mark on her cheek isn't from the rash, its from the dog and she won't quit picking at it.) The last picture is of Syd's tooth - its not a great pic - it was taken with my phone so the quality sucks.

Adding Insult to Injury

Our cat is gone.
*sigh*

Someone had opened the backdoor last night and I saw it when I went to bed around 2am. I shut the door, and we haven't seen the kitty since then. We are devastated.

PULLING MY HAIR OUT (and yarn, too)!

Ok, so I scrapped the felted bag... I just couldn't find the needles I needed for that particular pattern. I needed 16" sz10 circs, and I only have 29". They are just too long to make the knitting easy. So, the wool is back in the stash bag, waiting patiently for me to decide what to turn it in to.

Now, on to the Fetching. I am so nervous about using this yarn! Its just too expensive to be messed with willy nilly. LOL Really, though, I realize that many of you don't consider $7 for a tiny skein of yarn expensive, but I do because I just am a total tightwad, and there is ALWAYS something else we need/want the money for. That being said, I am trying to get better about this, it will just take me a while... So....................... I can't decide what to do with the Cash Vero, either. I am still planning on making them into fingerless gloves, but I think I will just use a very generic "tube" type of dealio and just leave a hole for my thumb. This is actually how I like my sweaters, so I think I will be happier with this.

*sigh*

On a brighter note, I took the kids to the McDonald's Playscape for a few hours today and we all had a good time. I worked on the Skull Illusion Scarf, and wasn't paying close attention so had to frog a few rows here and there lol, but it's ok. We were having fun, and that's all that counts, right?

I'm just frustrated because I have all these projects I want to make and so much yarn I want to use, I just can never decide what to work on in what order.

I hate moving!

Yesterday we spent the day in Sullivan, moving my MIL. Sullivan is two hours away and its where Charles and I are both from. Our parents still live there.

So anyway, she moved from her house "in town" to a house "on the other side of town, across the tracks". Basically all that means is that she moved approx. 1.4 miles away. Her new house was scheduled to be bulldozed, but since her neice owned it and she needed a place to stay, they saved it for her, putting in a new furnace and renovating the inside. Its very cutely decorated.

It was snowing all day and the temp was about 29 so it was cold but not frigid like it had been the previous week. She still isn't completely moved but we all got tired and called it a day.

There was much stress and much frustration, as is usual for such an event, I suppose. This is how Charles looked most of the day:

While I was down there my mom gave me my bag of goodies that she had forgotten to bring during the "car resuscitation" - i.e. my yarn, some magazines and some SURPRISES!! My dad had made me a PVC Niddy Noddy! (Click here to learn what it is.) I had sent them an email a week or so ago asking if he might be able to make one for me, but I really hadn't expected him to have the time to make one for a long time. I was thrilled!!! Also, my mom had finished sewing my needle case! It didn't turn out as we had both expected but it will do just fine. My needles are sitting all snugly in it already. (My Dale of Norway Hauk was in the bag, too, so I can get started on my next WCTP skeleton hat this week.)

The kids spent most of the day at my parents' house doing crafts and playing with Sassy (my mom's mini-Dachshund).

Cars SUCK!

So Charles decided he wanted a Blizzard and some movies, so I go to get it all for him and get to Kroger to pick up some Kleenexes and soda and the stupid car won't start!!!!! **curses curses** I realize its the security thingy (yes, that's the official term) and call my dad (since its his car). He doesn't really have any ideas either, so I just call Charles and have him come get me (in the OTHER broken car...)

See, here is the situation; Charles and I own two cars, a Jaguar and an Audi. Sounds nice, huh? Yeah, well, it would be if they didn't break down all the time. The Audi had transmission issues in 2005, and we got it fixed and bought the warranty, and then lost the keys... yeah, it sat for nearly a year unused in our garage. We then got new keys and the car had a whole new set of problems: brakes, burns oil, and since it sat for a year, expired plates. *sigh* Well, in the meantime of the Audi being down we were just using the Jag and it was fine then one day it just stopped as I backed out of the driveway and the display said "engine failure" or something like that... Its been out of commission since late fall. They are both so ridiculously expensive to fix... and at then to add insult to injury, the Jag's plates expire at the end of the month. *sigh* There goes our tax return........ Anyway, so we've been borrowing my parent's extra car - which has now decided to drop dead. Life hates us, its definitely official now. What have I done to deserve this bad Karma?!?!

GRRRRRRRR

Well I finally cast on my WCTP hat. I'm done with the border but my circular was giving me fits at the joint so I bought a new one today at Hobby Lobby since they were half price. They only had ONE in the size I needed (Boye Balene) and it wasn't exactly what I wanted. I bring it home, move all 128 sts to the new circ and it BREAKS on the 2nd row!!!! I am so disgusted. I also didn't like the "perfect points" because I move my needles with my fingertips alot and my poor finger is soooo sore from it, even after only two rows. *sigh* Now I am just knitting the sts back onto the first circ, but I'm really wishing I had just went to the LYS and bought an Addi... I just might have to do that this weekend.

UPDATE: So I drove to the better Hobby Lobby in Greenwood and they had exactly what I was looking for - yay! The joints still suck but they will just have to do until I get the KnitPicks ones or an Addi I suppose. I did pick up Sydney a tiny little counted cross stitch project and also a little wooden loom. Then I had to swing by Meijer and they had some Lion Brand chunky yarn on clearance for $.50. I'm hoping she can make herself a scarf with it and her new loom.

Magic Stripe Horrors

So I am knitting away on my sock, right? WTF? The yarn is cut... ok, grudgingly tie a frikkin' knot. OMG!!! It's cut again!?!?! Ok... something is wrong here, let's unravel this sucker a little bit... yeah, my kids have definitely gotten ahold of it. I had to tie it like 5x. I didn't wanna skip the cut parts because then the stripes would have been screwed up... *sigh* The scissors were locked away too, must have happened a long time ago.

Two hats in one evening...

Well, my 5yo dd decided to cut off nearly all her hair night before last. (Personally I wasn't that upset about it- its just hair and it WILL grow back - and besides - its HER head, not mine lol she is the one who has to deal with the consequences). Anyway - I decided to "yarn her up" (as my kids would say) a new hat. The first one was with WalMart ordinary RedHeart in "Bikini". It turned out cute, so I decided to use some of the nicer yarn I had in my stash. Unfortunately I can't remember the kind it was, but I assume it was YarnBee because I bought it at HobbyLobby. It was an "eyelash" type yarn and VERY soft. The hat is A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E! So now my 8yo dd and my 5yo ds are very jealous. LOL. After another trip to Wallyworld I picked up some camo-colored yarn and some yummy purple Bernat. I'm using a different pattern - one from a book my mom gave me today. It has a cable row for the brim and then a generic STST type beanie with a pompom, which I will probably leave off lol....
I hope to get pics of everything I've made up on here tomorrow and get this blog up and running like I want it, even if I am the only person who ever reads it. :-)
