Addiction??

Yeah, I can't stop making dishcloths - crocheting them is SOOO quick! Anyway, I made this one this morning, and the 2nd pic is an old one that my MIL made me.

I counted all my dishcloths up and I have 12 already.

Dishcloth Mania

The first two dishcloths I've made the past couple of days since I've been too sick to do much else. (As though you can't tell, one of them was made using scrap yarn I had laying around.) The third one is the 2nd F.O. I ever had. I had originally given this to my mom, but she didn't ever use it so she gave it back. Tsk Tsk Tsk... See if I make HER anything else... lol Oh, that reminds me, I gave the hat to my dad and he really liked it! I'm so happy! I didn't take any pics though, so I will try to snag a pic with it on his big red head! hehe

I have quite a stack of homemade dishcloths now. I'm loving them! I use them everyday. Obviously too much... see the hole in the blue cloth?? :-(

I got one more made tonight... I crocheted this one, and it was so much faster!

Sweater progress

I'm really enjoying making this sweater. I got really burned out really early making Syd's first sweater attempt, but this one is holding my attention and seems to be going much faster, I can really see my own personal progress as a knitter in the 2 mos since starting Syd's other sweater. Anyway, I'm just a few rows past the decreases for the armholes, but I have to stop for a few hours and clean a little - well 30 min anyway hahahahahaha... Like I said, I'm using Fibonacci numbers for the stripes and I'm really liking how its turning out.

I also put a picture of the 2 dishcloths here to show the difference between the same pattern/yarn with a different size needle, the one on the right is sz5, the one on the left sz6.

Knitting Meeting #3

We had a big turn out tonight at our bi-weekly knit-in. We have went from a total of 3 ppl the first night I went to 11 ppl tonight. We are getting almost too big for Panera Bread lol. A good time was had by all again tonight I think. It was fun seeing everyone's project and watching a certain three ppl learn to knit for the very first time!! I tried to get everyone to agree to a picture, but they all said no haha.

I was going to work on the bedspread lace pattern, but I quickly realized that I would not be able to concentrate enough, so I made a dishcloth. :-) We are getting quite a collection of dishcloths! Charles asked me to make us a bunch, and so I have been having fun making them. This particular "Idiot's Dishcloth" is super quick to knit so I might just make a bunch more of them.

Round Dishcloth

I finished my Round Dishcloth today - even though it's finished a little oddly. As I was gathering the center together and sewing the seam I was just going and going and happily seaming when I finished and realized that I hadn't bound off lol. It turned out ok though.

I also cast on something new that I haven't really tried yet. Its a pattern for a bedspread, but I am not even conceiving of the idea of really making something that big. I'm just testing the "lace" pattern using sz0 short dpns and blue crochet thread. I didn't exactly "block" this but I did iron it - does that count? Its cotton, so I don't really know how well that blocks anyway, but I know it irons well. This picture has no frame of reference to show how big it is, but its about 3in across and 2in tall, I'd guess.

February F.O. #2 and new project CO

I made this dishcloth in the last two days, it's HUGE but very cute. I am honeslty thinking of making the girls cotton tank tops using this pattern for the summer.

I've already CO my next dishcloth, I'm attempting a circular dishcloth - could be called a doily I suppose, but I'm knitting it in cotton and making it a dishcloth - hey I'm only 31, I'm not ready for doilies lol.

Happy Valentine's Day!

(or Balentime's Day as my girls would call it)

No, I did not knit that cute heart, I found it on the net.

After going through my stash last night I decided to make some more dishcloths before I start another hat. I'm using a Mason-Dixon-ish pattern I found last night online.

(Obviously the UPDATE pictures weren't taken in natural light so they look darker, but they are actually more true to the actual colors. Also, I know my white backgrounds are really ghetto - maybe one day I will remember to pic up some posterboard and tape from the store hahaha). Oh, and I realize that it will be obvious to most ppl, these pics are taken at funny angles and the stripes are really horizontal on the dishcloth.

Oh, I need some help from you guys! I have 20 balls of this eyelash yarn that I would like to make into something for the girls. I was thinking something like a fuzzy tank or a poncho, but I can't really find anything online pattern-wise. This is quite a bit thicker than FunFur. If anyone knows where I can find a pattern to use, please either post a comment here or email me:

Dishcloth #05

Dishcloth #05 finished! It's HUGE!!!
There are some mistakes in it but I won't point them out hahahaha. The first one is more true to the color, but the 2nd and 3rd pics show the detail better. It's also not quite as mishapen as it is in the photos.

Dishcloth #04 and ALPACA news

I started Dishcloth #04 yesterday but the design wasn't able to really be seen until it was almost 1/2 done - so here is a WIP shot. Its an entertwined cable. (Not that anyone cares but I can't put up a pic of Dishcloth #02 because I gave it to my mom.) *smile*

As for the Alpaca... I was rambling endlessly about yarn and other knitting tidbits to my dh yesterday and I said something about a llama (referring to Alpacas, but knowing he wasn't listening I wasn't going to bore him with details...) anyway, he said "those special llamas?" First of all, I picked my jaw up off the floor that he actually heard me then said, "Yeah, Alpacas." He then said, "Oh, yeah, my boss just bought some of those." I promptly picked my jaw up AGAIN and said something like are you serious?? He went on to explain that she bought them for their fur for the purpose of spinning her own yarn... O M G! I told him to tell her that I wanted to come and visit when she spins next time because I haven't watched someone spin since I was at a Pioneer Day in 5th grade. Anyway, maybe I can get her to sell me some of the fur?/roving?/I don't really know what to call the "raw stuff". -- FLEECE!!! That's the word.

My next F.O. is here!

Dishcloth #3 finished tonight. It's full of cute cables and I can't wait to start scrubbing dishes with it - ok, that last part is hardly the truth, but it sounded good!

Dishcloth WIP and Free Yarn Motherload!

I have had to frog this stupid thing so many times! I keep screwing up which cable stitch I'm on. This is the first project I've had with more than 2 cables, so it's fun and exciting, and frustrating at times, too.

As for the Yarn!! OMG! My mom bought me 24 skeins of yarn yesterday - gotta love moms!! She found them at BigLots - she said when she gave them to me, "I know they aren't great quality yarn, but you can make the girls something with them." No kidding!!! I just have to decide what to make now. 10 skeins of blue, 10 of pink, and 4 skeins of a green eyelash yarn. I think Sydney wants a scarf similar to mine, and I'm also thinking of a poncho or shawl for them, so I'll just have to research some patterns and see what I can make to get the most out of the yarn. I'm so excited... lol.

UPDATE: coming along nicely after the first few cables gave me some fits... (The color looks so different than above because the sun isn't out anymore to give some nice natural light. *grin*)

New F.O. hurray!!

I finished the FunFur Scarf - and I wore it to a family bday party tonight - its too big to really take a good pic of so maybe in the next few days I'll have Syd model it for everyone. Syd wore the green crocheted hat and everyone loved them both. I have to admit I'm a little happy about that hehehe... I also realized tonight that I've left off of the pics the very first thing I've knitted since picking it up in December - a dishcloth. I will wash it and get a pic - though its probably already stained through use since I made it. :-) I have started making another dishcloth tonight - I'm making a few more since DH and I prefer them to the thin purchased ones. I will get pics up as I finish them.

UPDATE: Here are a few pics of the first thing I ever finished. My very first F.O. in the flesh hahah... It's a tad bit stained from usage and it's wet in the pic so its a little distorted. Now I have pictures up of everything I've knitted except for one slipper that is long lost in the abyss of my children's rooms never to be seen or heard from again. (It wasn't that cute anyway. *wink*) Yes - leave it to me to choose something with cables for my first project... I like to push myself to the limit.
