Ally and School... and Terrible News

Well, Ally still loves school but things have been getting harder and harder in the mornings with her... She gets up ok, eats breakfast, brushes her teeth, watches cartoons, and then goes willingly to wait for the bus... And then the bus comes into view and she melts down, her face scrunches all up and tears start flowing and she cries that she just doesn't want to go to school... Its so hard putting her on the bus. Sydney tries to make it easier but sometimes Ally doesn't want Syd to touch her. She cries and waves at me as the bus leaves. Its horrible. When she gets home she talks about how much she likes school and is excited about it... Separation isn't easy for her. *cry*

We also got some devastating news this weekend. Chars' closest cousin Jada's husband was diagnosed w/ Stage 4 Lymphoma. Two weeks ago he thought he had strep throat, then they thought he had meningitis and then finally the worst diagnoses was made. I won't go into the complexities of the relationships involved here but there are many close relationships involved in this and its just a really sad sad situation. Charles stayed at the hospital with them until about 1am. At first there seemed to be no hope but now they are defining the problem in more detail and making plans of action, etc.etc. I will keep you all updated as we find out more information. But please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.

School Update

So far so good still with everyone and school. Ally is enjoying her school, getting up in a good mood, and doing well. She's grown up so much already and its only been 4 days of class! That might sound impossible, but I'm telling you its true!! LOL

Sydney is doing well too - we've had a few snaffoos with homework already but we got over it. Getting up isn't easy for Syd, and so it takes some extra pushes to get going but by the time the bus comes the "I hate you"s are usually over...

Life for mom is really rough this week. We're having some very serious financial issues. We got so far behind w/ the car this summer that I am not sure we will ever come back out of this hole. But I'm sure it will all work out somehow - it always does.

Its thundering here and that makes me very happy. I love storms, so I'm a happy camper tonight. ^^

School

Its going GREAT so far!!! Ally seems to like her teacher and wants to go back each day so far, so that's a good thing... haha

Some little girl stole her hair barrette and that upset her alot, but I think she got over it lol.

First Day Jitters

Well, they are off... And about 15min before the bus came the pricipal called me and told me that Ally qualified for full day Kindergarten and would have a different teacher. Her new teacher is Mrs. Depp... LOL Wonder if she is related to Johnny oo lala hehehe. Now I don't have to worry about picking her up on the 3x/wk that Charles works at work!! YAY! (Of course that means more free time for me so he's already making a honey-do list... haha)

Sydney has the same teacher she had for 2nd grade last year... lol hopefully that works out ok - there was only minor problems, so it should be ok.

Updates to come when they return home.

T-Minus ONE DAY

Well, tomorrow is the big day!! Hopefully all will go well... At least for tomorrow Ally has a way home lol... I hate the thought of walking there every day to pick her up - UGH UGH UGH!!!!!!! We had to do that on Ally's orientation day! Charles wasn't gonna be home in time so we walked. OMG It wasn't fun at all. There is a lady in the neighborhood who has a son that was in K w/ Sydney who has a son that will be in Ally's class, so maybe we can work a deal out w/ her... I don't know her very well and I hate to impose on her like that. *sigh* I really don't know how the poor girl will be getting home each day.

I've gotten all the school supplies labeled and put in the backpacks. Sydney's backpack already ripped on a seam, so I will have to try to sew it up.

Ally's Big Day!

Ohhh tomorrow is Ally's big day! Her kindergarten orientation!! She is less than thrilled. She really really REALLY does NOT want to go to school. They are doing DIBELS testing tomorrow and she wants no part of that either. I'm a little worried that she won't "pass" these tests... The worst that will happen is she will be in all day kindergarten instead of half-day, but I'd hate for her to be in anything considered "remedial", you know?

Sydney is really excited about 3rd grade. Right now she's at Mammaw's chilling out before school starts next week. We went and got a bunch of school clothes the other day - now to just get RID of all the clothes that down fit anymore!!! Sydney doesn't know who her teacher will be yet, but she said that Ally's teacher is really nice. (Of course Ally doesn't CARE about this because she is determined she is NOT GOING...)

Trey might even be starting school soon too. We've wavered back and forth between putting him in preschool and after talking to the pediatrician decided that its probably for the best. Other kids will "force" him to interact and hopefully jumpstart his communication skills. I put together a list of all the words/phrases he says - I'll try to post it next week.
