Once upon a time...

I used to do counted cross stitch - way back before I had children, that is. My beautiful boxes of highly organized floss on bobbins has long since been dumped 45,342 times by the kids and lost... But - here is proof that I CAN do it. I made this in 1995 - I had broken my foot jumping out of bed at Purdue University and had to have surgery and all kinds of good stuff - long story. I was on crutches and couldn't do anything for 3mos... It was horrible! So, I needed a hobby, and decided to make this angel - yes, it was my VERY FIRST attempt at cross stitch. (Hey, I mentioned in an earlier post that I don't do easy projects first, I dive right in lol.)

That angel is so pretty, I never had the patience for cross stitch. Have you ever thought of doing embroidery? I am thinking about starting it up again...I stink at it though LOL.

Btw, I love your new background and header for the site.

I found the cross stitch to be very relaxing, rather than frustrating, which is odd because tiny, tedious things really get to me usually.

As for embroidery, my Aunt Jessie used to do embroidery. She made quilts mostly - I will scan a couple - her embroidery was VERY simple. She did teach me when I was just a kid, but I've never done any since then. My great grandma used to do it too, I think, my mom has some GORGEOUS pillowcases.

But again, I really hesitate to start anything like that right now because my kids are soooooo into everything lol. Maybe though - I am feeling exceptionally "needlecrafty" lately hahha.
